An elderly couple was involved in a devastating highway crash caused by a drunk driver. The husband tragically died from brain injuries caused by the accident, while the wife suffered collapsed lungs, damage to internal organs, and multiple broken bones. We hired experts who distinguished the husband’s pre-existing dementia from the brain trauma caused by the crash and who explained the severity of the wife’s injuries.

In a head-on crash, a woman suffered blunt abdominal trauma during the seventh month of her pregnancy. Her baby was ultimately born with serious neurological defects and died 18 days later. The patient suffered permanent harm, including a condition that makes his body chronically unable to absorb nutrients from food. Although the defendants fiercely contested liability, we compiled a team of medical and vocational experts and proceeded through depositions, court hearings, and witness preparation for trial. The matter was eventually resolved through mediation.

A middle-aged man who struggled from breathing problems was going through rehabilitation at a nursing home. He was using a tracheostomy tube, which had been inserted before he entered the nursing home, but it became blocked with his own mucus when the nursing home staff failed to clean the tube. The patient suffered from cardiac arrest and brain damage, which resulted in his death six months later. We retained a nursing home expert and a respiratory therapist, as well as aggressively deposing current and former nursing home staff members regarding the facility’s practices. The award that we obtained at trial was substantially greater than the highest settlement offer.
